One-act plays, others will take stage at VC this spring

The Ventura College Theatre Department will present four one-act plays directed and performed by VC students on Feb. 22, 23, 28, and 29 and March 1 at 8 p.m. A matinee performance will be presented March 3 at 3 p.m.
The one-act plays will be “What She Found There,” “Wedding Duet,” “Fifteen Minute Hamlet” and “The Whole Shebang.” Cost is $7 general admission and $5 for students.
“I’m really excited about the diversity and quality of the productions we are involved in, in the VC community,” said VC costume designer Katrina Reynolds.
In April the department will stage a new family musical “A Time Out of Rhyme,” written by Randal West, with music by Ken Helms. “This is a show that will captivate audiences of all ages, a tongue-in-cheek comedy taking you through Mother Goose Land,” said VC student actor Chris Mahr.
The shows will be April 4, 5, 11, and12 at 8 p.m, and April 6 and 13 at 3 p.m.
The comedy “The Underpants by Steve Martin” will be staged on April 25, and 26 at 8 p.m., May 1, 2 and 3 at 8 p.m. and May 4 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $9 general admission and $5 for students.
Auditions are scheduled for Monday, Feb. 25 and Tuesday, Feb. 26, on the Main Stage from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Callbacks will be Wednesday, Feb. 27. Scripts are available for review in the VC Library.
