Fun Day at the Ventura College Child Development Center on April 13 turned out to be a big hit with the little ones.
On the warm Sunday, many families came to paint, play and have fun. It was like a child’s dreams; when the children and their families walked in, they were greeted by a wide variety of projects and activities.
Program director Robin Douglas described the annual event: “If you can imagine, the best day of preschool you will ever have.”
Activities focused on children ages 8 months to 8 years. The youngsters – and some not-so-youngsters – painted rocks, fished in a small pond and blew bubbles. Tents were set up all over the grassy area of the Development Center, where the children could paint paper bowls, create sticky paper collages and throw colored spaghetti at the walls. They had blocks to build with, instruments for the children to make their own music with, slides to play on and huge spider webs made out of yarn.
There was experimental art where the kids could paint with their head and elbows. Staff members sold drinks and Young Pirate shirts to help raise money for the Child Center.
